Practice Areas Overview

The Law Offices of Andrew D. Taylor is committed to protecting the rights and interests of individuals and their families in all types of personal injury, criminal defense, and family law cases.  Since starting his own practice nearly a decade ago, Andrew D. Taylor has spent countless hours writing well-reasoned motions and arguing almost daily in the courts.

Personal Injury

Andrew D. Taylor began practicing law in the area of insurance defense.  While working for the big insurance companies, he began to see the many ways in which they took advantage of injured individuals who made justified personal injury claims.  As he watched the insurance companies repeatedly deny or undervalue claims arising from accidents and injuries, he decided to start his own practice and dedicate his time to obtaining the financial compensation injured victims need and deserve.  Ever since that time, he has worked tirelessly to protect the rights of injured clients in personal injury claims, including:

  • Serious Injuries
  • Car, Truck, & Motorcycle Crashes, Wrecks, Roll-Overs & Other Accidents
  • Products Liability
  • Slip & Fall Accidents
  • Dog Bites
  • Wrongful Death

Most personal injury cases depend on whether the injured party can prove another party's negligence caused their injuries.  Every person, including drivers, property owners, and businesses, owe a duty to act with the reasonable care of an average prudent person under similar circumstances.  When a person breaches that duty, he or she is considered negligent, and when that breach causes injuries or property damage, they may be held liable for those injuries and damage.

Products Liability

Some personal injury cases, such as products liability cases, may be based on a theory of strict liability.  In these cases, the injured person does not need to prove negligence.  In products liability cases, manufacturers and certain other parties in the chain of manufacture are generally held strictly liable if a product causes injuries because it is dangerous or defective.  If a product is inherently dangerous, the manufacturer must ensure that there are adequate warnings on proper usage.

If you have been injured due to the negligent, reckless, or wrongful acts of another party, you may be entitled to both economic and non-economic damages.  Economic damages include such costs as past and future medical bills, lost wages, lost earning capacity, and property damage.  Non-economic damages may include compensation for such harms as pain and suffering or emotional distress.  In addition, in cases where the party's conduct was particularly egregious, punitive damages may also be assessed.

Criminal Defense

Nearly every single day, Andrew D. Taylor can be found in court rooms across Nevada fighting to protect the rights of clients who have been accused of criminal offenses.  From gross misdemeanors to serious felonies, Mr. Taylor is an aggressive advocate and fearless presence in the courtroom.  He began his criminal defense practice nearly a decade ago when a secretary at his first law firm was falsely accused of being an accessory to murder.  Watching the State of Nevada ensnare the innocent secretary in a criminal investigation, Mr. Taylor knew he wanted to help protect the innocent against such far-reaching power.  Mr. Taylor was successful in obtaining a dismissal of the charges, and has since defended clients against criminal charges in hundreds of cases.  His areas of practice include:

  • Serious Felonies
  • Gross Misdemeanors
  • Drug Crimes
  • Domestic Violence
  • Drunk Driving/ DUI
  • Weapons Crimes
  • Property Crimes

Misdemeanors & Felonies

Under Nevada law, if you are convicted of a gross misdemeanor, you may face imprisonment in the county jail for up to one year and fines of up to $2,000.  Defendants who have been convicted of felonies face the most serious penalties, which range from a minimum of one year imprisonment in state prison and $5,000 in fines, to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.  If you are convicted of a category A felony, the most serious type of felony, you may even face the death penalty.

If you have been charged with any type of criminal offense, don't risk your future.  An experienced attorney can help protect you from the far-reaching net of Nevada's criminal justice system by diligently writing compelling motions and preparing a strategy for trial that is based on the unique facts of your case.  If you are at the sentencing phase of your trial, we can argue mitigating factors to help you get a reduced sentence or even probation.

Family Law

Mr. Taylor understands that family law and divorce-related matters are highly-emotional and personal issues.  He is sensitive to the stressors you may face and handles each aspect of your case personally.  Although Mr. Taylor is always friendly and accessible to clients, he has worked with some of the most aggressive trial attorneys in Nevada and is a fearless advocate in the courtroom.  In addition to his clear and persuasive speaking skills, he is an experienced legal writer and has drafted many convincing and successful motions.  Mr. Taylor is able to help individuals and families in all types of family law matters, including:

  • Divorce
  • Child Custody
  • Child Support
  • Spousal Support
  • Paternity
  • Adoptions
